Construction of this fine example of early Victorian architecture was completed in March of 1883 at the 1303 Market Street site where the former Gowrie High School building now stands. In 1922, the house was rolled north onto Lynd Street by steam-powered tractors. She is presently in the process of restoration to her original elegance.
Delightful, original recipe breakfasts incorporating fruits and vegetables grown on site are served in the formal dining room, which looks out on the uniquely gorgeous panoramic flower gardens. Relaxation is easy to find in the comfortable, plush parlor, or you might follow the ornate curving stairway up to the library and the spacious bedroom/sitting room suite, complete with king-sized bed, double bed, DVD, VCR, cable TV, and newly remodeled private bath.
